Art Appreciation: the Badger Calendar

Badger Calendar

Badger principle #8: Fun is good. And what’s more fun than sneaking a zucchini on to your neighbor’s porch?

That “holiday” (and maybe a few others you are not familiar with) appears in the latest edition of the Badger Calendar, which has just landed here at Badger HQ. We use our calendar to mark the days, but truthfully it’s another way we appreciate all of the custom artwork that has been carefully and skillfully created for Badger by some great local artists. The 2015 Badger Calendar features beautiful botanical illustrations by Kate Beetle, who has been drawing cute badgers and colorful botanicals for us for years. She is a freelance artist who lives nearby in a home in the woods. We appreciate Kate’s playful, detailed work which adorns many of our products, as well as our brochures.

The Navigator Badger, master of time & space that he is, also left his mark on the calendar by way of stamps from his missions and travels around the world. These appear here and there, and compliment the navigation-themed watermarks that appear behind the botanicals. These details come from Badger artist Ginny Joyner, whose magical details appear throughout the year.

All of this art and whimsy wouldn’t be available to you without the hard work of two dedicated Badgers. So we’d like to take a quick moment to honor our graphic designer Robin, and our marketing manager Dee, both of whom worked tirelessly to bring it to fruition. Here are some pictures from the test pressing of the calendar a couple of weeks ago.

Badger’s 2015 calendar is available on our website for $6.99, but don’t delay… supplies are limited, and 2015 is almost at hand!
