    • Thanks for the question, Gene! The phrase came from a short, fanciful story that Badger Bill wrote for our 2017 catalog:

      The Navigator stood on skis in the deep snow, overlooking the valley far below. Thousands were gathered on each side of a divide. From this vast distance, the Navigator could see that each side was seeking safety and hope and peace. They just couldn’t find a way to get there, together. “It’s not about which side I’m on,” thought the Navigator, cold winds whipping along the ridgeline. “My job is to find the path and lead.
      And Kindness is my compass.”
      And with that, the Navigator pushed off in a crouch, gliding and soaring across the slopes, wondering at the sparkling beauty of the rising sun
      glistening on new snow.
