Five Ways to #VoteEveryDay this Holiday Season

“There are no more stickers left?” asked the first-time voter gloomily as he sauntered by my volunteer polling station. They had run out of “I Voted” stickers by 3 pm. An Instagram nightmare. I quickly rushed up to him as he exited the building. “Here,” I said. “You can have mine!” Judging by the huge grin on his face, you would have thought the “I Voted” sticker was the real winner of the recent mid-term elections.

Luckily, you don’t need an “I Voted” sticker to promote your values. Voting happens daily with every meal we eat, every pair of socks we put on, and every dirty dish we clean. Thanks to over 2,600 Certified B Corp companies, voting for our values is now easier than ever. When you purchase from a B Corp, you’re helping fuel environmental protection, increase economic equity, create jobs, and so much more.  Every purchase (vote) matters.

Here at Badger, we #VoteEveryDay for a more regenerative world. How can we realize a better world? How can we support efforts to restore nutrients to the soil, capture carbon, and build healthy communities? We turn to regenerative agriculture because not using pesticides isn’t enough.

We have a long way to go, however, to ensure that every ingredient we use is sourced from regenerative farms. Until then, we are thrilled to support B Corps that make voting for a regenerative world easier.

Your voice matters! And your purchasing habits do too. So why not make the most of the holiday season by voting for a greater good with the items you buy. Here are five of our favorite B Corps you can easily vote for, no matter the occasion.

1) COFFEE: Badger’s morning fuel

Dean’s Beans

Dean's Beans

There is good coffee, and then there is GOOD coffee. We live on Dean’s Beans coffee at Badger, and for good reason. They go beyond organic agriculture by ensuring their beans are fully shade-grown, a process that encourages biodiversity, increases soil nutrition, provides necessary habitat for migratory species (such as Baltimore Orioles and Monarch butterflies) and helps control soil erosion. With climate change occurring faster than predicted, biodynamic farms are vital to maintaining ecological stability around the world.

Who knew sipping coffee could feel so good?

2) CLEANING: All the suds

Dr. Bronner’sDr. Bronner's Pure Castile Soap

“We are All-One or None!” Who can argue with that inclusive mantra? Dr. Bronner’s has been in the soap making business for over 60 years and, in 2003, they became the largest personal care company to be certified by the USDA. Today, Dr. Bronner’s is committed to improving the livelihoods of their suppliers and farmers “while simultaneously regenerating soil.” With every Dr. Bronner’s product you purchase, you’re also voting to support soil health and community resiliency. Activism in a bottle? Yes, please!

3) CLOTHING: Cozy up!

Another revolutionary brand that we’re quickly falling in love with is TenTree. True to its name, they plant ten trees for every item purchased. Their mission is clear: “We don’t want to just reduce the negative impact of the apparel industry, we want to use it as a vehicle for change.” Not only does TenTree use a blend of sustainable materials (organic cotton, recycled polyester, and cork to name a few), their clothing is also incredibly cozy. Plus, they have hoodies with glow-in-the-dark constellations. GUH. Can we wear this already?

4) FOOD: Beyond Organic

Patagonia Provisions

Ask just about anyone here at Badger who their favorite B Corp company is and, almost always, the answer is Patagonia. Not only do they make sustainably sourced clothing that will last a lifetime, but they have also started supplying healthy and nutritious food sourced from regenerative farms through their new brand, Patagonia Provisions. Provisions is committed to helping rebuild soil ecosystems “that, when healthy, actually absorb carbon from our atmosphere and help cool our planet.” From grains and meat to mugs that creatively remind us to “bring back soil,” voting for restored soil is more delicious than ever before.

5) CONTAINERS: Leftovers never looked so stylish

Bee’s Wrap

Bee's Wrap

We’ve heard a lot recently about the damage single-use plastic is causing our planet. Some estimates predict that by 2050, there will be more plastic in our oceans than fish. That’s why we’re so grateful for companies like Bee’s Wrap for providing alternative sustainable solutions. Pack up your sandwich, wrap up that block of cheese, or cover the kale salad you’re taking to the holiday party in style with these organic cotton and beeswax wraps. Voting for regenerative agriculture (and stylish food storage) is super easy with this lovable B Corp!

So while the polls are closed and the midterm elections decided, you can still vote every day for a better world by purchasing from Certified B Corporations.
