At Badger, we believe ‘Fun is Good.’ Whether it’s business or play, the Badger way is to make it fun! Therefore, it’s no surprise that we’ll be participating in Giving Tuesday in our own unique and enjoyable way, by playing bingo!
Everyone. Loves. Bingo. We learned this some time ago after trying it out during a Monadnock United Way campaign. We knew we had a hit when nearly every Badger employee showed up to play and it was standing room only.
Badger’s Charitable Giving Committee, which is made up of members from various departments in the company, will be hosting a bingo fundraiser this Giving Tuesday during the company-wide lunch break. As Badgers happily munch on a delicious meal, they can purchase bingo cards for $1 each and play to win fun prizes. The prizes come from the excellent “swag” collected throughout the year from companies like Urban Moonshine, Dr. Bronner’s, New Chapter, and more at trade shows such as the Natural Products Expo East and West!
All the money raised will be donated to a charity helping with the ongoing recovery efforts in Puerto Rico following Hurricane Maria.
In addition to the bingo fundraiser, Badger also runs an annual Thanksgiving food drive for our local food pantry. We decided to have some fun with this too. Instead of putting out the usual crates or boxes to collect donations, members of the committee built a giant, and I mean GIANT, cornucopia measuring 6 ft. long and over 3 ft. wide and entirely constructed of recycled and recyclable materials. The hope is to generate some excitement by challenging the company to “Fill the Giant Cornucopia” with non-perishable food items, which will then be delivered to the local food pantry the week of Thanksgiving.
This year marks the 5th anniversary of Giving Tuesday, a day that was created to balance out the immense consumer spending that takes place after Thanksgiving on Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Giving Tuesday is also a way of shifting our minds and our wallets back towards the original inspiration for the holiday season: gratitude for the blessings we have and giving back to help those in need. Whether through the workplace, community organizations, or as an individual, we can all find fun and creative ways to ‘give’ on Giving Tuesday.
