Are you making your list and checking it twice? If you want to give loved ones gifts that are aligned with your values, the Badger elves have compiled a quick list of great eco-conscious companies that make really cool products and are certified B Corps. When you buy from a B Corp, you’re joining a global movement that supports businesses putting people and the planet ahead of profits – just like Badger! Read on for some of our favorite gifts from some of our favorite change-makers.
For the Gifted Gardener on your list:
Give ‘em a little taste of spring with this Premium Amaryllis Bulb from Gardener’s Supply Company. This ready-to-plant bulb comes wrapped in a little gift bag, and 6-10 weeks after planting, stunning flowers emerge. Festive and elegant, it’s an especially fun project for parents and kids. Love the idea, but don’t want to wait? For instant gratification, Gardener’s Supply also offers a Potted Amaryllis. Great as a hostess gifts, too!
To provide gardening and homesteading inspiration, you could also give a gift subscription to Mother Earth Living, and/or Grit Magazine, both are published by Ogden Publications. Mother Earth Living, a lifestyle magazine dedicated to healthy living, features recipes, DIY projects for the home, natural health and more! Grit, a bimonthly magazine that has been around for more than 125 years, provides advice for gardening, cooking, do-it-yourself projects, and living off the land. And since they arrive throughout the year, they’re truly gifts that keep on giving!
Badger Pick: check out our Green Thumb Gardener’s Gift Set, which features Badger’s best stuff for gardening: Anti-Bug Balm, Badger Balm for Hardworking Hands, Cuticle Care, and Unscented Body Soap. It comes delightfully packaged in a 100% recycled box tied with a charming green ribbon and a gift tag adorned with original Badger art – that’s one less present to wrap!
For the Creative:
Give ‘em a place to jot down inspirations and ideas with this cool Urban Woodsmen Inspired Sketchbook from ecojot. Made from 100% post-consumer waste, this sketchbook is stylish and sustainable! We love the wood and antler design from this B Corp, but this Moustache Journal came in a close second.
Badger Pick: our 2015 calendar provides a year of beautiful original Badger botanical art, while helping to keep track of events and appointments. As an added bonus (and once the year is over), the illustrations make great additions to collages and scrapbooks, and are perfect for wrapping or decorating handmade goodies.
For the Stylishly Sustainable:
Spread some warmth and good tidings with this Eco Wool Blanket from Indigenous Designs. Made by Fair Trade Artisans in Ecuador, this natural no-dye blanket just begs to be snuggled all year round. The traditional patterns are created by the naturally varying shades of wool, and the neutral designs will compliment most decors.
We love the handcrafted jewelry made by Dogeared Jewelry, especially this One in a Million Sand Dollar Necklace, which is both chic and affordable. We especially love the encouraging packaging, which states “You are bright, beautiful, and one of a kind.” We couldn’t have said it better!
Badger Pick: for the stylish man, check out Badger’s Deluxe Wet Shaving Gift Set, which features a beautiful handmade Vie-Long Horsehair Shave Brush and a Ceramic Shave Bowl. Beautiful and functional, this kit also contains Badger Pre-Shave Oil, Shave Soap, and After Shave Face Oil.
For the On-the-Go:
We love giving (and receiving!) this Vacuum Insulated Bottle from Kleen Kanteen. This little dynamo keeps hot drinks warm for 6 hours (no kidding!) and cold drinks cool for 24 hours. The stainless steel design means no BPA’s, and no endless amounts of paper cups heading to the landfill. With 9 great colors to choose from, you’re likely to find the perfect match for your traveling friend.
For snacking on-the-go, we’re big fans of this set of 4 Mini Food Storage Containers from Preserve. The screw top lids make them great for carting around everything from cereal to salad dressing, and the 100% recycled plastic is BPA-free. We love the B the Change packaging, but if you want to limit the amount of cardboard you give, you can order the set without the packaging. That gets a big ol’ Badger thumbs up – Preserve is a great B Corp!
Badger Pick: our Mind Balm Variety Pack features three of our most popular aromatherapy blends: Headache Soother, Stress Soother, and Cheerful Mind Balm. These sticks fit easily in purse or bag, and are TSA-compliant! If you want to “stick” (pun intended) with just an essential travel item, we recommend our Headache Soother, which cools and refreshes anytime you’re feeling a bit tense.
Everything Else (and for those who have everything):
For the chocolate-lover, Alter Eco makes organic, fair trade, gluten-free Sea Salt Truffles that simply melt in your mouth, make great stocking stuffers, and are fabulous to give as hostess gifts. The packaging is so pretty that all you really need to do is stick a bow on it. The Fair Trade logo lets you know that farmers are being paid a fair price for their cocoa, and the USDA Organic Logo lets you know that there are no GMOs or pesticides hiding inside the wrapper. Pretty sweet!
When we need to find gifts for the impossible-to-buy-for, B Corp Etsy is one of our favorite sites to explore. They truly have something for everyone. But watch out! You can lose an entire Saturday browsing through the marketplace of handmade arts and crafts. The site is so vast and varied that we don’t even have a specific recommendation to give! But year after year, it’s a go-to when we can’t seem to find the perfect gift for our unique loved ones.
Badger Pick: who doesn’t love lip balm? Our Classic Lip Balm Holiday 3-Pack features 3 lip balms in festive flavors: Peppermint, Cinnamon Bay, and Chai Rose. The slim design slips easily into stockings, and can even be hung on a tree! This gift is a must-have for die-hard Badger fans, as it contains two popular lip balm flavors that have been discontinued and only appear seasonally.
